Gebze (Ancient name: Dakibyza) is an industrial town in Kocaeli Province, Turkey. It is situated 30 miles east of Istanbul on the northern shore of the Marmara Sea. It's also the largest district of Kocaeli. The town has grown rapidly in recent years, from 159,116 in 1990 to 253,487 in 2000 (census figures]. The town has a reputation for including nearly 15% of whole Turkish industry.

The Izmit Bay Bridge is a project which will have the total length of the bridge will be 4 kilometers, with a main span of 1,688 meters.

Gebze district locates into the westernmost of Kocaeli Province. Her neighbours are Tuzla in west, Pendik in nort-west, Şile in north and Körfez in east. Her names of villages are Ahatlı, Balçık, Cumaköy, Çerkeşli, Demirciler, Denizli, Duraklı, Elbizli, Eskihisar, Hatipler, Kadıllı, Kargalı, Köseler, Mollafenari, Muallimköy, Mudarlı, Ovacık, Pelitli, Tavşanlı, Tepecik, Tepemanayır (Tepepanayır) and Yağcılar.
