Paul Almond (born April 26, 1931) is a Canadian television and motion picture director and novelist.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, he attended Bishop's College School, McGill University and Oxford University, where he studied Philosophy, Politics, Economics and played for the Oxford University Ice Hockey Club.

At the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, he worked primarily as a director and producer, and also wrote several scripts. He did similar work in England for the BBC and ABC-TV[disambiguation needed] (London) and Granada TV (where he created the ground-breaking documentary Seven Up!) before embarking on a career as a feature-length filmmaking.

In 1967, Paul Almond married actress Geneviève Bujold with whom he had a son, Matthew James Almond. The couple divorced in 1973.

In 1976, Paul Almond married the photographer Joan Harwood Elkins.

In recent years, Almond has authored several novels.

In 2001, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada.

In 2007, he was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Directors Guild of Canada.
