Southern Illinois University is a state university located in southern Illinois with two institutions and multiple campuses. Glenn Poshard is President of Southern Illinois University.
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is the Edwardsville, Illinois campus of the system. In addition to a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees, the institution features a new but highly regarded College of Pharmacy, a School of Dental Medicine at Alton and a center in East St. Louis that provides clinical and practicum experiences for SIUE students in the arts, education, health, and social services.
The main campus in Edwardsville is situated on 2,660 acres (4.16 sq mi), with bicycle and walking paths throughout. SIUE is home to 13,500 students. At one time, SIUE was known as a "commuter school", but in recent years has transformed itself into a residential university.
