Coordinates: Sullia (ಸುಳ್ಯ) (also know as Sulya)is a taluk in Dakshina Kannada district of the state of Karnataka, India. It is a small town, surrounded with evergreen wooded mountains being a part of the Western Ghats range in South India. Sullia has plantations of rubber, areca nut, coconut, cashew nut, black pepper and banana. Education centers in Sullia offers variety of continuing educations to students from around the world. HistoryThe name Sullia has come from the word "suli" which in Kannada means "whirlpool". This whirlpool is near Kurunjibhag and is very dangerous.
