WKND is a radio station operating on 1480 kilocycles licensed to the city of Windsor, Connecticut. The transmitter site is in Windsor while the studios are in Hartford, Connecticut. WKND is owned by Freedom Communications.

WKND operates during the daytime only with a 500-watt signal and has a Gospel format.

History

The station came on the air in the early 1960's as WSOR. The studios remained at the Windsor Parcade Shopping Center until 2005 when they were moved to 330 Main Street in Hartford.

Major transmitter site renovations were undertaken in the mid'90s with the replacement of the station's three towers and a retuning of the station's directional antenna pattern.

The call letters "WKND" were briefly associated with 1230kc. in Manchester, Ct. (from August 9th 2004-March 1st 2007) during which time 1480 became WNEZ.
