History

WXTX began broadcasting on June 17, 1983 as an independent station. Three years later, on October 9, 1986, WXTX became a charter Fox affiliate, and today is the network's longest serving Georgia affiliate after Fox dropped WATL for New World owned WAGA-TV. On September 5, 2006, WXTX added programming from Fox's new sister network, MyNetworkTV. At one point, the station offered The Tube (a 24-hour digital music network) on its second digital subchannel. It was dropped on October 1, 2007 when the network stopped broadcasting. The second digital subchannel now carries This TV (an all movie channel) since late December 2008.

News operation

Sister station WTVM produces three newscasts for WXTX. This includes an hour long broadcast weekday mornings at 7. There is also a nightly half hour 10 o'clock newscast.
